Walk for Peace & Memorial Vigil Mass
On Saturday, February 11, a group of about eighty people participated in the Walk for Peace at St Mark Church to pray for an end to violence. Parishioners & clergy were joined by family members of those lost to violence and by the Archdiocese Office of Restorative Justice, led by Julio Escobar.
After an opening Gospel reading and reflection, we processed around the church, singing and carrying crosses with the names of our brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese who were killed in 2022. With the crosses laid at the foot of the altar, four survivors spoke movingly about their difficult experiences.

After the Saturday vigil mass, we shared dinner and fellowship. The image of 65 crosses at the foot of the altar reminds us that we must continue to pray for safe communities and for healing and conversion in a world stained by violence and fear. Thank you to all who participated in the ceremony last February 4.

Richard Louis Reiser
February 17, 1953 - February 5, 2023 (age 69)
Richard Louis Reiser, 69, of Belmont, CA, entered into rest on February 5, 2023. He was born on February 17, 1953 in Redwood City, CA to the late Edward Reiser and his mother Eleanor Reiser-Braband of San Mateo.
Richard leaves behind his children, Brandy Christine Wamsat (Richard) of Irvine, Richard Eric Reiser of San Jose, and Michael Anthony Reiser of Modesto. He was blessed with one grandchild, Lila Waldon.
Richard is also survived by his siblings, Carol Schiavone, Joyce Risso, Dennis Reiser, Kenneth Reiser, John Reiser, Geri Van Gorkum, Julie Wetzel, Susan Bruni, and James Reiser and his step-father Kenneth Braband. Richard also leaves many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved him dearly.
Richard graduated from Carlmont High School class of 1971 and immediately after joined the US Navy and retired after 20 years of service. He worked for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for over 25 years. In his down time, Richard enjoyed cooking, camping, and riding his motorcycle. Richard was also actively involved in several theatre clubs including the Belmont Community Players, Claypipers Summer Theatre Company in Drytown, and the San Carlos Chickens’ Ball. Richard was kind and loved unconditionally. He was very social and made friends wherever he went. He was one of the first Altar Servers at St. Mark's Catholic Church, known at that time as God's Garage. He also sang with St. Mark's Folk Group.
He will be remembered as a loving father, son, and brother. He will be deeply missed.

Celebrating Word of God Sunday
Join us at the parish hall on the following Thursdays at 7:00pm -- February 23 & March 2 -- and gain a deeper understanding of the Word of God.
An Evening of Music & Prayer with the Blessed Virgin Mary
February 11 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, St Mark.
Prayers were led by the Legion of Mary, accompanied by the St Mark Choir.
Join the next Prayer Rally on March 4 (First Saturday), at noon.
