FEAST DAYS AND HOLY DAYS
Throughout her life, Jesus appeared to Sr. Faustina. He asked her to become an apostle and secretary of his mercy, by writing down his messages of Divine Mercy for the world in her diary. Jesus also asked Sr. Faustina to have an image painted of his Divine Mercy, with red and white rays from his heart, and to spread devotion to the Divine Mercy novena.
“I do not want to punish aching mankind,” he once told Saint Faustina, “but I desire to heal it, pressing it to my merciful heart.” The two rays emanating from Christ’s heart, she said, represent the blood and water poured out after Jesus’ death.
On April 30, 2000, Pope John Paul II canonized St. Faustina in what he was widely reported as saying was “the happiest day of my life.” It was also on this day, the Sunday after Easter, that Pope John Paul II instituted the Feast of Divine Mercy, which Jesus had asked for in his messages to Sr. Faustina.
Saint Pius V established the feast of Our Lady of Victory to thank God for the Christian defeat of the Turks at Lepanto—a victory attributed to praying the rosary.

We invite our primary-aged kids to participate in our Children's Liturgy of the Word this Sunday Oct. 8 at the 9:45 am Mass.
The Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is a liturgical experience for children that allows them to hear and respond to God's Word. During CLW, children leave the sanctuary during the Liturgy of the Word, and enter our Chapel to hear the scripture readings proclaimed and explained at an age-appropriate level. The goal is for children to grow in their love and understanding of God.
We plan to offer CLW on 2nd Sundays of the month at our Sunday 9:45 am Mass, during the CCD school year from September through April.

Catechism of the Eucharist

Second Collection for the Priests Retirement Fund, SF Archdiocese - October 14/15.
Our priests have dedicated their lives to serving others. They have been with us and those we love for many of life’s most precious moments, from birth to death, showing us the love and compassion of God. They have baptized us, taught us, preached the Gospel to us, and led our parish communities. They have heard our sins, blessed us with absolution, and brought us the Eucharistic gift of Christ Himself. They have witnessed our weddings, comforted us in illness, officiated our funerals, and always been there, in both our times of distress and our moments of celebration. In their retirement years, these men of God need and deserve our help.

New -All Saints Dinner Dance
On Saturday October 28th, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting the All Saints Dinner Dance at the Parish Center. The Doors open at 6pm and Dinner will be served at 7pm. There will be games, a costume contest and dancing. Tickets will be available for $35 for Adults, $15 for Teens 13-18. Children 12 and under are free (pizza dinner for the kids).
Annual Ozanam Awards brunch
On Saturday, September 30, Saint Mark Vincentians gathered with Society of Saint Vincent de Paul conferences across San Mateo County for the annual Ozanam Awards brunch at Saint Patrick Seminary. We celebrated Mass, renewed our commitment to the poor and to one another, and enjoyed fellowship with some excellent barbecue.

Looking for recertification or refreshing your lay minister’s knowledge as they serve as Readers or Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion? The Office of Worship will be offering training for new and experienced Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers over two consecutive Saturdays during October & November 2023.
During the first workshop, ministers are introduced to sacramental theology, particularly that of the Eucharist. During the second workshop, presenters who are experienced and trained offer spiritual and technical direction for the minister’s specific liturgical role. Workshops conclude with preparing Extraordinary Ministers for bringing Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, and Readers with coaching in proclamation and oral interpretation. This training fulfills the requirement of the Archdiocese to be certified every three years for these ministries.
Registration: $20.00 pre-registered or $25.00 for same-day registrants. See the flyer attached below for complete details.
