FEAST DAYS AND HOLY DAYS
We celebrate the feast of St. Luke, the physician and companion of St. Paul whose gospel preserved the most extensive biography of Jesus Christ.
St. Luke wrote a greater volume of the New Testament than any other single author, including the earliest history of the Church. Ancient traditions also acknowledge Luke as the founder of Christian iconography, making him a patron of artists as well as doctors and other medical caregivers.
Other students of biblical history adduce from Luke's writings that he was the only evangelist to incorporate the personal testimony of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose role in Christ's life emerges most clearly in his gospel. Tradition credits him with painting several icons of Christ's mother, and one of the sacred portraits ascribed to him – known by the title “Salvation of the Roman People”-- survives to this day in the Basilica of St. Mary Major.

Catechism of the Eucharist
As part of the parish Eucharistic Revival, the Catechism of the Eucharist will be included in our Sunday Masses after the Homily. Attached is a guide for the October 14/15 Masses on the topic - Who Says Mass is Boring?

Our priests have dedicated their lives to serving others. They have been with us and those we love for many of life’s most precious moments, from birth to death, showing us the love and compassion of God.

Ladies Guild News
Ladies Guild’s Fall Faire takes place on Sunday, October 22 following the masses from 9am to 2pm.
Stop after mass for a snack, lunch, dessert from our fabulous bake sale, sipping or shopping. Something for everyone.
View the dazzling array of raffle prizes. Tickets being sold after the masses this weekend as well as at the Fall Faire, when the drawing will take place. Need not be present to win.
Proceeds support Ladies Guild's many Outreach Programs.
All Saints Dinner Dance
On Saturday October 28th, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting the All Saints Dinner Dance at the Parish Center. The Doors open at 6pm and Dinner will be served at 7pm. There will be games, a costume contest and dancing. Tickets will be available for $35 for Adults, $15 for Teens 13-18. Children 12 and under are free (pizza dinner for the kids).
Half of the proceeds from the dinner dance will be donated to the victims of the Maui fires.

What kind of food do prisoners eat? The most common food prisoners get includes bread, potatoes, beans, soup, milk and in rare instances, a piece of fresh fruit. Many “meat” dishes are cut with edible soy product. Other, more tasty foods are available, but they can be costly for people incarcerated.
Join the Archdiocese of San Francisco, Restorative Justice Ministry; the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department; and Five Keys Schools & Programs with a corporate donation, to make Thanksgiving in 2023 a joyful day. Meals are served November 14-16.
