Catechism of the Eucharist
As part of the parish Eucharistic Revival, the Catechism of the Eucharist will be included in our Sunday Masses after the Homily. Attached is a guide for the November 18/19 Masses on the topic - Liturgy and Language.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by funding community programs that encourage independence. You are essential to its success.

Hands of God cards
When we meet the homeless and the transients, we want to help them as the Lord has helped us. But what can we do in that moment?
The Hands of God program was developed as an outreach to our neighbors in need. We will provide a gift card, prayer card, and a list of helpful resources, all in one easy-to-carry envelope.
Each envelope can be purchased for $10 to cover the cost of the gift card. If you are interested, you can purchase your cards after Mass this Sunday.
New- Walk for Life - January 20, 2024
Bus riders can Sign up now!
The St. Mark Social Justice Ministry and the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a bus to the Walk For Life in San Francisco on January 20, 2024, Saturday. There is no charge, however, each walker is asked to bring a tip of $5.00 for the bus driver.
All ( Bus Riders) walkers must sign up and provide cellphone numbers when they sign up. Please remember to bring your cell phone to the Walk for Life. You can sign up below.
WALK FOR LIFE 2024
All walkers are asked to arrive at the Parish Center by 7:00am to 7:15am. The bus will leave the St. Mark parking lot at 7:30am for 8:30 Mass at the Cathedral in San Francisco. After Mass, we will be walking to the Civic Center, about ½ mile, for the event and the walk.
Restrooms are located at the Cathedral and porta potties are located at the Civic Center. Please wear layers as the weather may be cold and plan ahead if the forecast is for rain. A small lunch and water will be provided, however, it can be a long day and we suggest walkers bring additional food and water.
The walk will start at 1:00pm down Market Street. At the end of the walk, there is an additional walk to the bus. The total amount of walking for the day could be as much as 3+ miles. Please contact Chuck at Trilliumlane@comcast.net with questions.
Barbara Klase
We are sad to announce the passing of Barbara Klase on November 1, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Andy, their 7 children, multiple grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Barbara was an active Vincentian for many years, visiting families, delivering groceries, and attending to their requests. She was well loved by the families for her grace and warmth. In 2022 she was honored by the San Mateo County SVdP Council
with the Monsieur Bailey Award for her many years of dedicated service.

A memorial ‘Celebration of Life’ is scheduled for Monday, February 12, 2024 here at St Mark Church. More details will be announced in the future.

Eva Marie Barr
April 18, 1937 - November 12, 2023
Eva was born on April 18, 1937 in Manila, Philippines and resided there until the age of 21. She was a graduate at St. Joseph’s College in Quezon City. She was the oldest of six girls. At the age of 21, Eva ventured to the USA by boat which took her on a 21-day journey. She settled in California living with her aunts and uncles. Eva’s father had passed away during her stay in California so Eva’s family decided to join her and also moved to the USA.
Eva worked for Morrison-Knutson Engineering & Construction where she met her husband James Barr. They married and were blessed with their daughter Mary Frances in 1968. They purchased their home in San Mateo. James passed away in 1986. Eva and Mary lived in the San Mateo home for 54 years. Eva has met many wonderful friends in San Mateo. She touched many lives with her gentle spirit and her positive outlook on life. She enjoyed listening to music and loved any chance to dance. She loved her family and her strong Catholic faith.
In 1996, she met her longtime friend and companion John Horan. They enjoyed dancing together, especially line dancing. They were a great couple on the dance floor and everyone loved to watch them dance. Friends described Eva as a loving, kind and generous person that was always willing to help. Eva was active in the Catholic Church. She will be missed by many.
Survived by daughter Mary Frances Barr; sisters: Mary Jane Sambuceto, Helen Barraco & Lourdes (Lulu) Zeagas; brother-in-law Jim Zeagas; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- great-nieces & a great-great-nephew. Preceded in death by husband James Barr; sisters: Emily Sardinas & Rosemary Naftaly; and parents Emilia Herman & Nino Lopretti.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation at 10:00am; Rosary at 10:30am; Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment to follow at 1:00pm at Skylawn Memorial Park.

We invite all St Mark families

At the Sunday 9:45 am mass, parishioners will take turns bringing the Vocation cross home to pray the Vocation prayer & Rosary daily, for a week.

The three rectors of the Archdiocese the Very Reverend Kevin Kennedy Pastor and Rector Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption; the Very Reverend Robert A. Barbato, OFMCap, Rector of National Shrine of Saint Francis; and the Very Reverend Mark Doherty President-Rector of Saint Patrick’s Seminary & University will present at a Cathedral Catholic Men’s Retreat focused on “Jesus Christ: True Model of Masculinity”. They will address three questions: 1. What does it means to be a Christian man? 2. How does a Catholic man love?

Thanks to the many generous donors, in the past three years, the SF Turkey Drive provided enough food to prepare more than 160,000 meals for the hungry. This year again, donations will help continue this effort against hunger in San Francisco.
In addition, it is also happening at the SF Zoo parking lot, 1 Zoo Drive, on Monday November 20 from 9:30a to 12:30p. (Free parking at the Zoo with turkey donation during the drive).
Donations to the SF Turkey Drive can be made in one of several forms: turkeys, boxes/bags of fresh vegetables, and hams (in December), at the drive locations; “virtual” turkeys donated through a secure website portal at the Event Website above; or checks payable to SFM Food Bank and mailed to SF Turkey Drive, c/o St. Emydius Church, 286 Ashton Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94112
The 2023 beneficiary is the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, an organization which supply food to many – including the St. Anthony’s Dining Room – and addresses hunger heads-on in numerous ways in our local community.

Laguna Honda Hospital appreciates anyone who can volunteer to help bring residents to Mass and return residents to their rooms on Thursday mornings. It is a great experience for residents and volunteers. For those interested, please contact Chaplain Floyd to be guided through the volunteer training process and health protocols.

The Committee for Religious Liberty has identified the Solemnity of Christ the King as a fitting moment in the liturgical year to promote the Church’s teaching on religious freedom.
