MAY 12, 2024 The Feast of the Ascension is the fortieth day after Easter Sunday, which commemorates the Ascension of Christ into heaven according to Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51, and Acts 1:2.
In the Eastern church this feast was known as analepsis, "the taking up", and also as the episozomene, the salvation, denoting that by ascending into His glory, Christ completed the work of our redemption.

MAY 13 is the anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady to three shepherd children in the small village of Fatima in Portugal in 1917. She appeared six times to Lucia, 9, and her cousins Francisco, 8, and his sister Jacinta, 6, between May 13, 1917 and October 13, 1917.
What is the central meaning of the message of Fatima? Nothing different from what the Church has always taught: it is, as Pope Benedict the XVI, has put it, “the exhortation to prayer as the path of “salvation for souls” and, likewise, the summons to penance and conversion.

Catechism of the Eucharist
We continue the Catechism in our Sunday Masses. Attached is a guide for the May 11 and 12 Masses on the topic -The Altar.
Twin Heart Statues at Saint Mark
We are happy to announce that the statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary have been delivered in church. We will install a platform to keep them stable and elevated.
Thank you to our donors for making this parish project possible.
Meanwhile, the statues of Saint Mark and the Holy Family are back at the chapel.
Notice of Repair Works
Repair & replacement works on the church roof began on May 1 and are still in progress.
The daily morning mass will be held at the Chapel and there will be no Adoration until further notice.
For your safety, please stay away from the church perimeter while the works are ongoing.
We will continue to provide updates.
Birthdays at the Communal Supper
We are starting a new tradition at our parish. We will celebrate birthdays during the Communal Supper. It will still be a potluck, but with a special celebration to honor the month's birthday celebrants.
On May 18, Saturday, we invite all May birthday celebrants to celebrate their birthday at the Communal Supper at 6:00 pm at the Parish Center.

10 Days to Go ... Walk with Jesus, Walk as One
On May 19, Sunday, walk as one with the Saint Mark parish community as we participate in the launch of the National Eucharistic Revival Pilgrimage from the West with the St. Junipero Serra Route. Let's join Archbishop Cordileone and the Eucharistic Perpetual Pilgrims for 11:00 am Mass at Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption followed by a pilgrimage walk at 1:00 pm with the Blessed Sacrament across the Golden Gate Bridge.
If you would like to be counted among the Saint Mark representatives attending the event, please sign up so we could get a proper headcount.

Saint Mark community celebrates the Youth!
On Sunday, May 5, we had our CCD & Youth Confirmation Year End Mass and Fellowship Lunch. It was great to celebrate with all our families and parishioners in Saint Mark, as another wonderful year for our classes comes to a close. We started off with a solemn Mass followed by a procession to the Grotto for the Crowning of Mary, as May is the month of our Blessed Mother. We then proceeded to the Parish Hall for our fellowship lunch which included a recognition ceremony to acknowledge all of our CCD and Youth Confirmation students who have completed their classes this school year. Congratulations to all our students!

St. Vincent de Paul: Appeal

This coming Sunday, May 12, and the following Sunday, Mother's Day, is CATHOLIC CHARITIES SUNDAY. This second collection is an annual opportunity for parishioners in the Archdiocese of San Francisco to support mothers and their families in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties. Every day, low-income mothers are struggling to make ends meet. Many in our community have no option but to move money around, choosing between paying rent and utilities, buying food, and medicine, living from emergency to emergency. With your help, Catholic Charities provides life-affirming services so mothers and their families can flourish, without difficult choices. Please give generously and dedicate your Mother’s Day donation to at-risk mothers that need hope and resources.
