September 12
Since 1683, the Catholic Church has celebrated the feast of the Holy Name of Mary on Sep 12. Officially instituted as a feast day for the universal Church by Pope Innocent XI, the feast dates back to the 1500s when Catholics in Spain began commemorating Mary’s special graces, intercession, and mediation.

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
September 14
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrates two historical events: the discovery of the True Cross by Saint Helena, in 320 under the temple of Venus in Jerusalem, and the dedication in 335 of the basilica and shrine built on Calvary by Constantine, which mark the site of the Crucifixion.

Vocation Cross Program

More than ever, we need to pray for religious and priestly vocations. We are launching the Vocation Cross Program at the Saturday 4:30 pm Masses, in addition to the 9:45 am Masses.
The sign up sheets for the corresponding mass time are in the church. We encourage all families to participate in this program. Matt Lucett has graciously accepted the role of coordinating the program. If you have any questions, please contact Matt at mlucett@saintmarkbelmont.com
St. Bernadette Statue
A larger statue of St Bernadette has been installed at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto. Thanks to the generous donation of a parishioner.
The smaller statue has been moved to the Rectory garden.
September 15 is Catechetical Sunday
We thank all our catechists for their faithful service and Matt Lucett who leads Saint Mark's Religious Education program.

Second Collection
We will have a second collection during September 22 Masses for the Priests Retirement Fund. Our priests have dedicated their lives to serving others. In their retirement years, these men of God need and deserve our help.

"Moving Through the Loss of A Loved One”
A focused support group being offered by the St. Pius Grief Ministry this fall.
The sessions are intended for those who have previously attended a Grief Support group session and/or would like to participate in a support group focused on progressing through their personal grief journey.
The sessions will be held on Monday evenings for 8 weeks beginning Monday, September 23 at 7:00pm. (Monday Oct. 14 is a holiday).

In 1974, Pope Paul VI sent every bishop and head of a religious order in the world a small collection of Gregorian chants entitled Jubilate Deo. This booklet contained a “minimum repertoire” of plain chant that he wished every Catholic in the world to know, with the aim of fulfilling the mandate of par. 54 of Sacrosanctum Concilium: “…steps must be taken to ensure that the faithful are able to chant together in Latin those parts of the Ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them.
