Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
June 22/23
Also known as the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, which translates from Latin to "Body of Christ", this feast originated in France in the mid thirteenth century and was extended to the whole Church by Pope Urban IV in 1264.
This feast calls us to focus on two manifestations of the Body of Christ, the Holy Eucharist and the Church. The primary purpose of this feast is to focus our attention on the Eucharist. The opening prayer at Mass calls our attention to Jesus' suffering and death and our worship of Him, especially in the Eucharist.
At every Mass our attention is called to the Eucharist and the Real Presence of Christ in it. The secondary focus of this feast is upon the Body of Christ as it is present in the Church. The Church is called the Body of Christ because of the intimate communion which Jesus shares with his disciples. He expresses this in the gospels by using the metaphor of a body in which He is the head. This image helps keep in focus both the unity and the diversity of the Church.

The Nativity of St John the Baptist

John spent his time in the desert, an ascetic. He began to announce the coming of the Kingdom, and to call everyone to a fundamental reformation of life. His purpose was to prepare the way for Jesus. His baptism, he said, was for repentance. But one would come who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. John was not worthy even to untie his sandals. His attitude toward Jesus was: “He must increase; I must decrease” (John 3:30).

Legion of Mary Auxiliary & Recruiting Event
July 13
Saint Mark’s Legion of Mary places evangelizing as its primary mission, actively working to spread the gospel through various apostolic works. Our focus is on reaching out to individuals, families, and communities, with the goal of helping souls find a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the church.
On July 13, Sunday, 1:00 pm at the Saint Mark Parish Center, we are holding the Legion of Mary's Auxiliary & Recruiting Event. All active and auxiliary members are asked to attend.

Knights of Columbus Fundraising Casino Trip
July 26
Invite your friends and family to join us at our KoC Fundraiser. We have secured a bus to Cache Creek Casino with MGQ Tours. The pick up and drop off will be at St. Mark parking lot. The departure time is 9:00 am and the return time is 6:00 pm. Cost: $40.00.

Camino de California Eucharistic Pilgrimage
The Pilgrimage continues. The pilgrims are visiting all the 21 historic missions throughout the state of California with the Blessed Sacrament, beginning in the northern part of the state and then traveling southward. The Camino team will meet the 2025 National Eucharistic Congress - Drexel Route pilgrims in San Diego and continue the remainder of the journey with them to Los Angeles for the Closing Mass at The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on June 22.
