Saint Maximilian Kolbe died in the concentration camp at Auschwitz, during World War II, and is remembered as a “martyr of charity” for dying in place of another prisoner who had a wife and children. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II on October 10,1982.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
August 15
This significant feast day recalls the spiritual and physical departure of the mother of Jesus Christ from the earth, when both her soul and her body were taken into the presence of God.
The feast of the Assumption is always a Holy Day of Obligation for both Roman and Eastern-rite Catholics, on which they are obliged to attend Mass or Divine Liturgy.

Holy Day Masses on August 15
In celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virigin Mary, masses will be held in church on Friday, August 15 at 8:30 am and 7:00 pm.

Faith Formation Class registration is now open and we welcome kids and teens from Grades 1-12 to enroll in our CCD Faith Formation and Youth Confirmation classes. Our religious education programs are geared towards helping our kids have a greater appreciation and love for our Catholic faith as well as to prepare them to receive our most Holy Sacraments.

Potted Plants Donation & Sale
The parish received potted plants as a gift from our dear parishioner, Mercedes.

COR Empowers Catholic Men
Families need strong husbands and fathers, and the world needs courageous witnesses to Jesus Christ.
Through Cor, men will be formed and sharpened as disciples of Jesus, who are committed to serving him and willing to boldly live and share their faith. Catholic men need to proactively invest in their ongoing faith formation, to be a part of a dynamic brotherhood that supports, sharpens, and strengthens them to be holy men, husbands, and fathers, and to engage in the mission of the Church.

As the CFC is a family-renewal ministry, we have ministries that support the spiritual needs of every member of the family. These family ministries are as follows:

Gary Krippendorf graduated life on August 4, 2025. The Celebration of the Life of Gary will be held Saturday, August 23 at the Saint Mark Catholic Church in Belmont, CA.

Gary's family is incredibly grateful to all who have donated blood/platelets in the past -- because of blood donations, Gary had a chance to fight his cancer, and we were given the precious gift of more time with him.
Alternatively, a gift can be made to Stanford's Cancer Institute, to help them continue research into better cancer treatments. We are extremely grateful to the UCSF and Stanford cancer teams, especially Dr. Mannis and Dr. Olin, who demonstrated utmost care and persistence during Gary's 7-month battle with AML leukemia.

What is the talk going to be about? The talk will explore how Christ meets us in our brokenness and how His healing love restores our dignity and hope.
Would this be of particular interest to young adults—why so? The Sisters have a growing appeal among young adults because of their joyful witness, authenticity, and the way they compassionately address real-life struggles. Their message especially resonates with young people seeking healing, purpose, and a deeper relationship with Christ in a culture that often offers little spiritual depth. Many young adults follow them online or have encountered them through FOCUS events and retreats.
What about the broader audience? Yes, absolutely. While the content will particularly resonate with young adults, the message of healing and God’s mercy is universal. Parishioners of all ages will likely find it meaningful and spiritually enriching.
