This day commemorates the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River by St. John the Baptist. On this occasion, Jesus entered into His ministry and acquired His first disciples; St. John proclaimed Christ the Lamb of God, whose way he had prepared; and the Triune nature of the Godhead was manifested.

Saint Hilary
January 13
St. Hilary of Poitiers was a fourth-century philosopher whose studies made him a champion of Orthodox Trinitarian theology during one of the most difficult periods of Church history. He protected the Church and its members by brilliantly defending the sacred humanity of Jesus while also defeating Arianism which denied Christ's placement within the Trinity.
In a very troubled period in the Church, his holiness was lived out in both scholarship and controversy. He was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1851.

Parish Center Update
We have completed cleaning our parish center floors. We give special thanks to Janet Leyte Vidal for overseeing the work of our service provider to clean our parish center floors and dividers. We also thank the Saint Mark Knights for clearing the hall and returning furniture from storage. The parish hall looks great!

Walk for Life West Coast 2026
Join fellow Catholics and Pro‐Lifers from all over California and beyond as we stand up for the littlest among us at the 22nd Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 24, 2026. There will be Mass at 9:30 am celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The rally begins at 12:30 pm in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza, and the Walk, down the city’s Market Street, begins at 1:30 pm. Cleaning out closets?
Ladies Guild’s annual collection of gently used, clean SWEATS, SWEAT-SHIRTS AND COATS is underway and continues through the weekend of January 17-18.
These items are shared with Catholic Worker House, Redwood City and given to those unhoused or in-need friends. Our donations are critical to providing dry, clean and warm items during these cold, wet winter months.
If you are replacing or cleaning out closets please save any clean sweats that are still
wearable. Items may be left in the bins in the workroom located to the right of the altar.
SVdP Advent Season of Joy Outreach
Our thanks go to all Saint Mark parishioners for supporting the program. We also thank once more the Ladies Guild for allowing us to share in your ministry and bring your generosity to our neighbors.
We visited 71 households (45 with minor children); 253 people (157 adults and 96 minor children); bringing Target gift cards and our note of love and fellowship. In total, our neighbors received 193 Target cards ($4,825 value). And we in return received a treasure of great value - the gift of seeing the face of Christ among us.
Advent Celebrations
The recent 2025 Advent celebrations at Saint Mark were well-organized, with participation from our parishioners and the greater Belmont-Redwood Shores community. We give special thanks to our dedicated Clergy and all our Liturgical Ministries for leading and organizing the Advent celebrations! We also appreciate the support extended by all of our Service Ministries and parish staff.
Update from COR
The men of Cor met on Sunday, the 4th, and the subject for discussion was the Apostle’s Creed. We read the creed line-by-line and talked about most of the twelve beliefs contained in the creed. Do we really believe in those points? How do those beliefs affect our lives? Cor is men talking with men and provides all of us with a unique and valuable way to examine ourselves and our faith.
