Saint Mark

April 25

We celebrate the Feast of Saint Mark, our patron,  on April 25th. 

Saint Mark was an evangelist or Gospel writer. His is the shortest and the oldest of the Gospels and was a great contribution to the Church. It included oral and written traditions concerning the words and deeds of Jesus. He shows Jesus as the suffering Son of God. Mark writes that anyone who wishes to follow Jesus must accept the cross.

Mark was not one of the 12 apostles but was a member of the first Christian community. He was a traveling companion and assistant of Paul and Barnabas on the first missionary journey.

A winged lion is Mark's symbol. The lion derives from Mark’s description of John the Baptist as a “voice of one crying out in the desert” (Mark 1:3) which artists compared to a roaring lion.

Second Collection for Catholic Home Mission, April 25 & 26 

The bishops' Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions is a grant-making agency. It offers financial support to missionary activities that strengthen the Catholic Church in the United States, and in its territories and former territories. Through its annual fundraising campaign, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal, Catholic Home Missions educates American Catholics about mission needs and invites them to assist fellow Catholics in the practice of the faith.

Cinco de Mayo

May 2

Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at the Cinco de Mayo Family Fiesta.  Doors open at 6:00pm at the Saint Mark Parish Center (Fr. Flanagan Center).

All are invited for an evening of food, music and family fun & games.

$40 - Regular price
$30 - Members of any Saint Mark Parish Ministry
$20 - Ages 15-21
Free for Ages 14 and under

Ladies Guild Meeting

May 6

All Ladies of the Parish, our next Ladies Guild meeting, to be held May 6th, is the last evening meeting of our 2025-2026 season. This year our theme is Cinco de Mayo which lends itself to a festive time! In keeping
with tradition there are 3 parts to this meeting: we begin with drinks and appetizers as greetings and
camaraderie begin.

Then we will have our annual Devotion to the Blessed Mother, during which we remember all our Mothers, living and deceased. We end our ceremony bringing flowers to Our Lady and Crowning Our Blessed Mother. Please bring a flower, extra flowers will be available if you are unable to do so.

We will continue the meeting with friendship and food! This is a pot-luck affair so we ask that everyone show off your culinary expertise and bring a dish to share, an appetizer, entre or dessert. Our traditional “Drink of the Evening” will be provided. As always, if you need or know someone who needs a ride to the meeting, please contact Judy: 650-207-1210 or fkarl99@aol.com for arrangements. Aerobic Exercise and Body Movement to Music 

May 24

On May 24, from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Saint Mark Parish Center, experience a fun 90 minutes of warmup stretching, active moving to music, and cool down. Along the way speaker Cathleen Morehouse, will  explain the importance of flexibility and stretching, moderate cardiovascular exercise, muscle strengthening, injury prevention, taking heart rates, hydration, and offer additional tips for increasing longevity.  Bring comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle, and a good spirit.

We are the Knights who say Yes to God! For the Knights of Columbus, what does this actually look like?

As a fraternal Catholic brotherhood, we are first here for God, the Church, Family, then our Community. We pray the Rosary daily and carry it with us. We pray for those less fortunate and hold fundraisers like Cinco de Mayo, Pancake Breakfasts, and Casino Trips to name a few.

Knights said Yes to the call of widows and orphans at our inception and have expanded ever since to help All those in need.

Come pray the Rosary with the Knights of Columbus every Monday night at 6:30 pm at the Mary Grotto (weather permitting or inside chapel) and consider joining an organization of men who say Yes to God!
