Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels
September 29In the culture of the Church, Michael is often accompanied by his two fellow archangels — Sts. Gabriel and Raphael — with the three forming a phalanx of protection, healing, and petition for those who ask for their intercession. The Church celebrates the three archangels with a joint feast day on September 29.

Saint Jerome, Priest and Doctor of Church
September 30Saint Jerome was above all a Scripture scholar, translating most of the Old Testament from the Hebrew. He also wrote commentaries which are a great source of scriptural inspiration for us today. He was an avid student, a thorough scholar, a prodigious letter-writer and a consultant to monk, bishop, and pope. Saint Augustine said of him, “What Jerome is ignorant of, no mortal has ever known.”

Speaker Series: The Ins and Outs of Voting
September 27Join us on September 27, 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Parish Center for a completely non-partisan presentation of the voting process and interpreting Propositions on a ballot. Rose Payan and Barbara Kuehn will provide valuable information. Sign up in church to attend.
Pilates for Seniors
October 11Join us on October 11, 2026, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, for a one hour+ full-body and breathing exercises for seniors and others. Bring an exercise mat and noodle if you have one.
Busra 'Bree' Duygu (in photo) is a certified Pilates instructor with a background in physiotherapy. Through Pilates and mindful, intelligent movement, she helps others build strength, confidence, and trust in their bodies. Please sign up in church if you plan to attend.
Cor Update
Joy. What is joy? How do we get more joy? How can we share joy with others?
Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. (1832) Joy is also a fruit of charity. (1829) There are 14 mentions of joy in our catechism. Scholars suggest joy is mentioned in the Bible as many as 430 times. Psalm 30 says joy comes in the morning and lasts despite hardship. Joy is the gigantic secret of Christians. (Chesterton)
We’re going to look deeply at joy in Cor on September 28. Join us in the parish center at 7 PM.
We all can use more joy in our lives. We were made for joy! Cor can help give men the interpretive key for understanding all of salvation history, and even more important, a way to understand their own life story and their own role in salvation history.
Knights Table
We are happily working on the All Saints Day Festival to be held Saturday, October 24th and will be selling tickets shortly after Masses and at the door. Each purchase will earn a raffle ticket for a coveted prize and additional tickets can be purchased at the door.
Additional fun prizes can be earned by participating in various games and from the costume contest.
Proceeds from the Festival will be used to purchase “Coats for Kids.” Last year, over all Councils, the Knights were able to purchase over 300,000 new coats for the needy.
Future events have us making breakfast for the Excell Network meeting on November 21st , another fun Pancake Breakfast in early January and potentially another blood drive in February. Again, we can always use additional help so consider joining us by
becoming a brother Knight!
YOU CAN HELP by donating unused Christmas cards
We are requesting new Christmas Cards for the Cards of Mercy program sponsored by the Archdiocese of San Francisco’s Office of Restorative Justice Ministry. These can be the non-profit cards now filling our mailboxes. The Archdiocese is hoping to collect 4,000 cards.
Help bring joy to the incarcerated by saving new Christmas cards. Each inmate receives 4 cards, three of which are used for personal correspondence and one sent directly to the inmate. Please save your cards and leave in the church workroom (to the right of the altar) in the box labeled
Ladies Guild.
Our parish Ministries are participating in this special event, Saint Mark will hold a writing event to ensure the inmates receive a Christmas greeting. Details to follow. Or you may choose to write cards at home independently. Samples will be provided.
While this request is specifically for Christmas cards, Ladies Guild collects greeting cards of all types
throughout the year, which are shared with other ministries. These may also be left in the workroom.

They Become the Light of the World,
With a Little Help from Us!On Saturday, September 19, fifty guests, volunteers, clergy, and students gathered at Saint Mark for our monthly Excell Network Breakfast, hosted by the Ladies Guild – a wonderful meal, as always!
We celebrated our student leaders who led panels and drove challenging discussions during Friday’s Reentry Conference at Saint Mary’s Cathedral. This is what you support when you join us and when you donate to the Excell Network: Men and women leave prison hungry to do great works in God’s name but not knowing where to turn. With a little help, they become the light of our world, a light that only grows brighter when they share it, like one candle lighting a thousand. We are so grateful to the Lord who forms these courageous leaders and blesses the Saint Mark community by sharing their journey. Our Excell Network friends know that we love them and care about them. Please know that the students love and care about the Saint Mark family too.
Every day is a miracle, a grace from God to us who seek Him in all things and see Him in all people. Featured speaker Jerry shared his epiphany that we all are valuable, worthy, deserving of love solely because we are made by God in His image. Nothing we do to impress others can possibly make us more valuable. So we live to love and live for God.

On Sunday, September 13, our Saint Mark SVdP Conference was delighted to share food, laughter, and conversation with our friends at Catholic Worker House. Thanks to Saint Mark Vincentian Milly Goh for hosting this fun event, and thanks to everyone for pitching in to make light work and full bellies!

The Cathedral Choir presents a Sacred Concert at 5:00p, followed at 5:30p by the Mass for the Memorial of Saint Francis with Most Reverend Steven J. Lopes, Bishop of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, as principal celebrant. At 6:30p, a ribbon-cutting and first public viewing will mark the opening of the Sacred Relics of Saint Francis of Assisi and Masterpieces Exhibition. A Franciscan Aperitivo Reception follows at 7:30p in Saint Francis Hall, followed by an Elegant Franciscan Banquet at 8:30p.
